On July 31st, the State of Nevada, Governor’s Office of Energy awarded the Lincoln County Power District No. 1 a $25,000 grant to purchase high efficiency streetlights to replace most of the existing streetlights in the towns of Alamo and Panaca.  After purchasing the new LED type streetlights, the Lincoln County Power District and the Alamo Power District No. 3 worked together to install the new lights in each town.  On October 14th, the work was completed.  The new LED type streetlights will reduce energy consumption by 52% while providing lighting output, as measured in lumens, that is equal to the old streetlights.   The new LED streetlights are expected to be maintenance free for a minimum of ten years.
